課程概述 |
This course offers a thorough introduction and discussion on the distribution patterns of biodiversity in various spatial and time scales as well as the ecological and evolutionary factors that are responsible for these patterns. Selected case studies will be presented and discussed with emphasis on the research methods and recent development of biogeographical studies. The course will focus on the formation, significances and conservation issues of biodiversity with a specific emphasis on the biodiversity patterns in terrestrial and marine ecosystems of Taiwan. |

課程目標 |
Students are expected to develop a broad understanding on various issues of biogeography, be able to generate an in-depth review on a selected topic and give a presentation. |

課程要求 |
One presentation (1 hour including discussion) or a written report based on in-depth review of a topic is required. Students are encouraged to participate in discussion on both lectures and presentations. One final written exam in the end of the semester is also required. |
